The Commissioner of Securities and Insurance has staff dedicated to helping consumers resolve complaints against insurance companies. The Commissioner’s office helps consumers file complaints and appeals, and educates consumers about their rights and responsibilities.

Problems with purchasing insurance through healthcare.gov

For problems with your eligibility for health insurance through healthcare.gov, your family’s tax credit, appeals to healthcare.gov, and troubleshooting the website, we highly recommend contacting a local certified assistor or calling the healthcare.gov Call Center at 1-800-318-2596.

APPEALS: If you feel healthcare.gov has inaccurately determined your eligibility for tax credits, or is having trouble processing your application, you can appeal the decision. You can learn more about appeals here. There is a special rule that allows individuals who win their appeals to have their health insurance coverage retroactively applied back to when the coverage should have started.

REQUESTING AN EXPEDITED APPEAL: If you have an immediate need for health services and a delay could seriously jeopardize your health, you can ask for an expedited appeal by calling the healthcare.gov Call Center at 1-800-318-2596. TTY users should call 1-855-889-4325. Visit healthcare.gov for more information on the expedited appeal process.
